Greetings from Cardinal Macharski to the Congress participants.
Fausztinum 2011.10.02. 18:34

Sister Faustina and John Paul II – we do not wish to free ourselves from their charisma” – said Cardinal Franciszek Macharski when greeting the attendees of the II World Apostolic Congress on Divine Mercy.
After the Holy Mass Cardinal Franciszek Macharski, the Emeritus Cracow Metropolitan, greeted the participants of the Congress gathered in the Divine Mercy Basilica. Moved by the homily deliverd by Cardinal Zen Ze-kiuna from Hong Kong he referred to the persecuted Catholics in China.
„Our brother, Cardinal from China, with great courage and devotion to faith and man takes into his hands what he took to his heart before. He, his brothers and sisters, take in their hands this image of Jesus which we just have in front of our eyes. What a superhuman effort it must be to cry to God for mercy, for the rescue of Jesus living among people who believe in Him. How persistent and full of trust must be this «Jesus, but we trust in You» - said with shaking voice Cardinal Macharski.
In the above context the Cardinal Emeritus recalled as well the adversities Sister Faustina had to face and a tremendous effort of the ailing Pope John Paul II to come in 2002 to agiewniki when requested by the Cracow Metropolitan of the time, Cardinal Franciszek Macharski, so as to consecrate the Basilica of the Divine Mercy. “Sister Faustina and John Paul II – we do not wish to free ourselves from their charisma, from this gift of God who wanted this place, where Jesus told about Himself and where He taught, to be sacred – a true sanctuary” – convinced the Metropolitan.
When referring to the current situation of the Chinese Church, Cardinal Macharski expressed his happiness that „there are so many people to make a sacrifice which is necessary, just like the sacrifice of St. Faustina and John Paul II.” “We have them both written in our hearts and they are written in the Heart of God” – he asserted.
Finally, the Cardinal Emeritus indicated Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn whose image is placed in the Divine Mercy Basilica” „The Mother of Mercy, may She protect you and may Lord’s most Holy plans towards this poor, distressed man lost in it, be realized.”
